Sports and Recreational Structures

Recreational structures present their own unique challenges. Roof spans are often very large and must be devoid of intermediate supports; seating must be designed for the dynamic loads that occur when a crowd moves in unison; member connections subject to repeated loadings must be designed for fatigue of the base material. Here are four very different structures— three permanent, and one temporary. Click on the thumbnail or name for larger photos and further information.
